Thoughts In My Head

Can people change? Is it true that most people don't change because it is easier to stay the same...Easier to stay in your everyday routine? Why is it that people can change but never do? Burglars, thieves, murders, rapists, all these people say "I'll change," but they never do. They serve their time, they find God while in prison and they say I'll change when I get out, but the minute they are released from jail that want to change disappears and a week later they are being thrown back into a prison cell. Our world is a pit full of people that say they are going to change but they never do. If I had to guess I would say millions of people say everyday that they are going to change; they go to bed at night saying "Tomorrow is the start of the new me." However, when they wake up its only a continuation of the old them, nothings changes, and nothing ever will. We fall into a routine that we as humans do not want to break because we seek the comfort of the things we know, and change...Many think change causes discomfort. However, if no one is willing to change how do they know what its like. Our city, our state, our nation, our entire universe is stuck in a cycle for the need to change. The cycle begins with a person saying they need to change, they get the motivation to change, they begin to start the change, but as always they fall back into old ways and that change turns into a new years resolution that is made every year until we die. What does it take for people to change? I don't know, obviously I am like everyone else I am stuck in a norm that I don't want to break. However, I think if someone really desires to change, then they can. It's kind of like losing weight, you wake up one morning so disgusted by your reflection in the mirror that you decide to go on a diet. Some stick with the diet, some don't but I view change like a diet. You want to either lose the weight or gain more; you want to either change and become a better person or stay the same old person you have always been. Change....It a complicated word with a complicated definition; and its a complicated task that only the dedicated can fulfill. If the world cannot seem to change how are the people in it suppose to?

Waiting on the World to Change by John Mayer

Me and all my friends
We're all misunderstood
They say we stand for nothing
There's no way we ever could
Now we see everything is going wrong
With the world and those who lead it
We just feel like we don't have the means
To rise above and beat it

So we keep waiting (waiting)
Waiting on the world to change
We keep on waiting (waiting)
Waiting on the world to change
Its hard to be persistant
When we're standing at a distance
So we keep waiting (waiting)
Waiting on the world to change

Now if we had the power
To bring our neighbors home from war
They would've never missed a Christmas
No more ribbons on the door
When you trust your television
What you get is what you got
Cuz when when they own the information ooohhh,
They can bend it all they want

So while we're waiting (waiting)
Waiting on the world to change
We keep on waiting (waiting)
Waiting on the world to change
It's not that we don't care
We just know that the part ain't fair
So we keep waiting (waiting)
Waiting on the world to change

We're still waiting (waiting)
Waiting on the world to change
We keep on waiting (waiting)
Waiting on the world to change
One day our generation
Is gonna rule the population

So we keep on waiting (waiting)
Waiting on the world to change
Know we keep on waiting (waiting)
Waiting on the world to change
We keep on waiting (waiting)
Waiting on the world to change
